Our 2022 Summer Camp Schedule IS SET!!!
This year we are able to offer our Fun With Horses Camp. For ages 6 to 9 years of age, we will hold 4 weeks of camp from 8am to 12noon. We are grateful that we are able to hold at least one of our camps this year. But this is going to fill up very fast!
2022 NEWS
While the worst of the Pandemic is over, there is still a lingering sign of it almost everywhere you go: continued Mask wearing
for those not feeling safe. Fortunately, no masks are required here and it is a very safe environment to be in as we are in the Great Outdoors. Our Summer Camps are back beginning in
June. Our Horse Husbandry program works well in this environment, and we've had great feedback from past students.
We have had some minor changes in our lesson horses, however Purdy, Christopher, Joker, Hook, Tony 27, Midnight 27,
Shahmone at 25 and Pete now at 32! are still going strong...and our beginner riders love them all. Joey and Casey went to join my other horses in the Pastures in Heaven and they all are
happily running around and grazing all day long I am sure! A girlfriend of mine purchased a horse that she's keeping with us and allowing me to use him as an Intermediate lesson horse. His name
is Rico and he's 9 years old. He's an Appendix TB standing at 16.2 Hands, he's as sweet as can be..and what we call a "chill" horse! WELCOME RICO!!
We also have had a turnover in Instructors: Carrie (previously our Barn Manager and later Instructor) has moved on to be with her family more. Shaina has gone off to college to be a Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine. Audrey is now becoming one of our main instructors teaching young kids and teens beg;inner/intermediate lessons. Aleah also has her hand in a little bit of teaching as well as having fun with her horse Poncho Too who is boarded here. Brittany Barsch, Kathy's daughter has FINALLY joined us with teaching our students!! She brings with her 18.5 years of horsin' around, and owns 2 of the horses here at our stables: Hollywood & Daishar. She has been a member of the Orangevale 4H Horse Project for 5 years but will be aging out this summer. Kathy will continue to teach the advanced riders and all the Instructors and Trainees, furthering their riding skills so they can move up levels and keep their students with them.
We are now offering our Fun With Horses Summer Camp directly through our stables and are no longer offering it through the Parks
Departments. Both camps are now the duration and the same price and the kids have enjoyed the additional extra hour for the Fun With Horses camp. You can check out more info regarding both camps on
the Summer Camps page.
Our Boarding rates are very competitve and we have made a couple of changes to the size of some stalls/corrals. The rising cost of horse ownership everywhere
makes it challenging to continue operating without raising our rates periodically. We will continue to keep our rates competitive and strive to maintain a quality facility with quality
instruction.
We aim to provide you with up to date information and facts on lessons, boarding, training, events, and other happenings at the barn and
beyond.
We hope you will find it easy to navigate the pages and find the information you need.
Thank you,
From all the Horse Lovers here at Hillside Stables!
